Wildlife Feathered
Birds are the only animals that have feathers. Feathers provide a light but tough covering, and keep birds warm in cold conditions. Feathers emerged from the scales of reptiles and kept birds apart from all other creatures. Feathers are essential for insulation, flight, and courtship displays. Feather shapes and colors help us differentiate between various species of birds. There are six different types of feathers, which are contour, flight, down, filoplumes, semiplumes, and bristle feathers. Pennaceous feathers, more commonly known as contour feathers, split into two groups; one group is symmetrical and covers the body and the other is the flight feathers.
